The Path
The following word came to me, June 24, 2010.
I submit it for your discernment and edification.
Did you notice it? Neither did I, at least
until I was on the other side. I can only speak for myself, but I sense
that my experience is common to many today. Therefore, I speak in the
first person plural "we."
It seems we recently passed through a door,
shutting out our past lives in the flesh and opening up new horizons of
the spirit. We began to notice that so many things we once took an
interest in no longer interest us—the sin that so easily besets us; that
addiction we never expected to kick; those toys we desperately thought we
needed; that getaway we thought we had to take; that relationship we
thought we could not live without; that career path we just knew was going
to give us our identity and satisfaction; all those noises and gadgets
that distract us from hearing from the Holy Spirit—so many "things" of
the world that are growing strangely dim.
Indeed. We seem to be passing through such
doors and sensing that they are being permanently shut behind us. What's
more! We don't even care that they are passing away. Matter of fact, we
are glad. We feel relieved. Once removed from our interest, we see how
empty and shallow they were.
Now, we find ourselves on a path walking hand
in hand with the Lord of our lives. We see others on their own path with
Him. We can relate to them in spirit. We can fellowship with them in the
Spirit, but we cannot walk their path with them, nor they with us. The
Lord dogmatically says, "There is not room for three on this path."
We are alone with Him, but we are not lonely.
We have never felt closer, more comforted, more filled with praise,
worship, and a sense of awe.
We know where are we going. We have prayed
for this walk for many years, not always knowing that this is what we were
praying for. Now that those doors are closing and we feel the Lord's hand
in ours, we know that we are presently on that glorious highway of
holiness.
Yes. We are entering the Kingdom of God in
fullness in preparation to reign and rule with Him on the earth in
heavenly places.
There! Look up! It lies before you. That path
you are on, that highway of holiness. You don't even want to look back.
Even if you could, nothing remains to be seen.
I wonder. Has this been your experience as well?
